Myths in Baccarat: Selections and Following the Trend

Around the world there are numerous individuals who believe or want others to believe that one can speculate in baccarat by using systems.

This claim is supported by the fact that the bank hand wins more frequently than the player hand. The different drawing rules create what is called an "asymmetry of the game." On the internet, there are various websites selling so-called solutions for large or smaller sums. With some frequency, books and treatises on the subject are published, with one common point: the promise of being able to beat the game.

Just like in roulette, various strategies are studied, applied, and proposed, often based on fanciful selections: intermittences, clusters, series of I, series of A, delays, frequencies, compensations, and many more.

Unfortunately, reality is very different: these maneuvers do not significantly alter the outcome percentages of the two chances, making the game practically unassailable.

It is also a common belief among many players that the trend itself gives indications of what "might be" the next outcome.

For example, many follow the "run," meaning after 3 (or more) consecutive outcomes of the same chance, they continue to bet on the same chance, hoping for a "long streak." Some stop chasing at the 6th outcome (for "graphical" reasons related to the display), only to resume after a potential 7th outcome.

Intermittences (PBPB...), often called "chop chop," are also frequently followed formations, as are repeated patterns. For example, after BBPPBB, many will bet on P for two rounds, hoping that the series of two equal chances will continue.

Many people also follow "symmetries." For instance, after PPPPBBPPP, they bet on P, hoping to "complete" a perfect symmetry.

The Chinese have different criteria for tracking outcomes and sometimes "follow the trend" in seemingly "strange" ways.

We could continue with several other examples, but we don't think it's necessary: both theory and empirical analysis PROVE THAT SUCH "THEORIES" MAKE NO SENSE.
